Hidden Beauty: The Valley of Kaghan

Pakistan is the one of the most naturally gifted countries of the World. Pakistan has so many beautiful tourist attractions, one can make a never ending list of it.

Kaghan Valley:

In top ten of that list would come the Valley of Naran Kaghan. Kaghan Valley lies in Mansehra District of Khuber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is located at the altitude of 7,904 feets. It is dotted with beautiful tourist spots and journey is accompained by mesmerizing River Kunhar. The valley is at it best during summer in the month May to September.

Shogran is the first tourist spot to look for. Shogran is a hill station situated on the a green plateay in the Kaghan Valley. It is located 7,749 feets above sea level. Shogran has beautiful hotels and mesmerizing view. Surrounded by mountains and away from hussle and tussle of city, this hill spot is one of the best place to spend your vacations. From Shogran, You can have a view of  Malka Parbat, the highest peak in Kaghan Valley.

Siri is a beautiful tourist spot near Shogran and on the way to Payee. Siri is located at the height of 8500 feets. Siri Lake is also a sight to watch. It is few hour drive on local jeep on ponnies from Shogran.

Payee is tourist spot near Makra Base Camp. Payee is located at the height of 9500 feet. It is surrounded by the Makra Peak, Malka Parbat and Musa Ka Musala. It also home the payee lake.

Naran

Naran is a small town located 120 kilometer from Mansehra city and along side River Kunhar.  The beauty of Naran can be seen at the entrance where you are welcomed by a giant glacier. The valley has high quality hotels for the tourist and is one of the oldest tourist attraction of Pakistan. There is facility of boating and fishing in the river Kunhar.

An alpine glacier lake located 7 kilometer from Naran. The Lake is accessible through a jeep track from Naran. The lake associated Prince of Persia folklore. According to Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Baksh, the prince fell in love with the fairy princess of the lake. Even if the tale is fiction, the beauty of the lake isn’t, this one of the most beautiful lakes in Pakistan. Surrounded by mountains on all side, it is sight to watch. The mesmerizing clear water and snow capped peaks add to the beauty of this tourist spot. The lake is frozen in winter and is hard to access due to glaciers. The lake is also a source to River Kunhar. The lake is located at the height of 10,578 feets.

 

Lulusar LakeLulusar

Another lake near Kaghan located at the height of 11,910 ft and main source of the River Kunhar. The lake itself is very calm and  soothing. You can spend quality time taking in the nature around you. The lake is border by mountains on one side and on the other the road to Babusar top. This setting of Lulusar lake make it quite different from others.

Babusar Top

Babusar Top also known as Babusar pass, is the highest point in Kaghan Valley accessible through roads. It lies on Karakoram Highway and connects Naran with Gilgit Baltistan. It is located at the height of 13,691 feet.
