Pakistan International Film Festival

PiFF (Pakistan International Film Festival) is taking place in Karachi from 29 March to 01 April

A platform to showcase work of Pakistani filmmakers. PiFF aims to provide them access to a larger audience. PiFF will screen features, shorts and documentaries from Pakistani and around the world. Moreover, PiFF’s mission is to create a unique platform which promotes both Pakistani cinema and Pakistani filmmakers by showcasing their films to divers international audiences.

Notable Personalities of Event

Sultana Apa

A Pakistani television director, producer and a businessperson from Karachi. She is also known as Sultana Apa.

Haseena Moin

A Pakistani dramatist, playwright and scriptwriter. She has written several plays for stage, radio and television, some of which have even gained international repute. She is the recipient of the Pride of Performance award for her services to the performing arts in Pakistan.

Junaid Mehmood (Jami)

A film director from Karachi, director of O21 and Moor

Rashid Khawaja

A producer and actor known for Salakhain.

Sajal Ali

Pakistani actress who has worked in numerous TV shows and movies.

Asif Noorani

A Pakistani newspaper and television writer.

Nandita Das

An actor, director and one of the leading celebrities in Indian film industry.

Asim Raza

A Pakistani film and television commercial director and producer

Anjum Rajabali

A prolific Indian screenwriter. He has spent over 20 years in the Indian film industry with films like Drohkaal, Ghulam, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Raajneeti to his credit.

Vishal Bhardwaj

An Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer.

Films & Documentaries

Over 200 international and local feature-length films, short films and documentaries will be screened at six venues in Karachi. Highlights of the festival are:

Cake (2018)

A Pakistani film. It will premiere at Nueplex Cinema

A documentary about legendary revolutionary Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

The Valley (2017)

Feature film staring Samina Peerzada. Based on an immigrant entrepeneuer whose daughter commits suicide.

Kuch Bheege Alfaz (2018)

Kuchh Bheege Alfaz is an romantic drama film.

Lala Begum (2016)

Directed by Mehreen Jabbar, Lala Begum is a Pakistani drama short film directed.

Song of Scorpions (2017)

Irrfan Khan’s The Song of Scorpions. A story of twisted love, revenge and the redemptive power of a song

Wishing Tree (2017)
